The often mentioned and long awaited Marcellus Shale Players is Now Available ON-LINE The Marcellus Shale Players is a 5-year and on-going project by Dory Hippauf. It began with the simple question of “WHO IS….” Too often players are overlooked or simply dismissed as industry shills, yet these players are actively working hand in hand with politicians to write regulations, create laws and exemptions to benefit themselves. They craft and control the message you see often repeated in advertising and echoed through their connections. Penn State just doesn’t seem to be able to figure out how to be a university-as opposed to a corporate-sponsored research hub, job training program center, and now green-washing “reclamation” aesthetics authority-for the natural gas industry. “Pinelands” Does Not Mean “Pipeline”: Just Say NO to the South Jersey Gas Company

From Kevin Heatley, Shale Justice Coalition South Jersey Gas Company wants to run a 22 mile pipeline (carrying fracked gas) through the New Jersey Pinelands – an internationally designated UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. It is supposedly protected by the Pinelands Commission but the commission has been compromised and is about to allow an exemption to the Comprehensive Plan. South Jersey Gas claims they are using it to change the BL England coal plant over to gas. But the plant is located on Egg Harbor – next to the Ocean. It’s an easy speculation what that location portends–global transport. Don’t Gas The Pinelands on Vimeo This is not rocket science. This is a moral imperative. The Fraudulent “Logic” of the “Middle Ground” Among the most pernicious and calculative strategies for extorting consent currently in fashion with the natural gas industry and their public relations agents—particularly the Center for Sustainable Shale Development (CSSD)—is what I’ll call the “argument for the middle ground.” There are several varieties of this brand of rhetorical extortion, but the basic structure of such an “argument” goes like this: The truth can be counted on to lay somewhere in “the middle,” where “the middle” is invariably some “compromise” between opposing factions, and where “everyone” can feel good that their interests have been met more or less in that “middle.” This “truth” via consensus can then be promoted as “reasonable,” and “just” and anyone who seeks to counter it with opposing facts or a challenge […]

Shale Justice hosted John Hanger, former Pennsylvania DEP Secretary on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013 for a lively discussion. WATCH THE VIDEO Invites had been extended to all the Democratic Candidates for PA Governor. KUDOS to Mr. Hanger for graciously accepting. Contrary to the Marcellus Drilling News, Shale Justice did not gate crash or protest their own event. Shale Justice extended the invitation, arranged for the date, time, location and even provided some light refreshments. The event began with Mr. Hanger making a few remarks. Given the mission of Shale Justice and the interests of those attending, the remarks and ensuing discussion centered on energy issues, specifically natural gas in Pennsylvania. Last week the natural gas cheerleading blog, Marcellus Drilling News (MDN) gleefully published what they thought was a big SCOOP with the headline of Shale Justice Coalition Plans to Gate-Crash John Hanger Appearance. The MDN “article” made its way around the fracker blogs and breathlessly shared via emails, and spotted on an Energy-In-Depth/IPAA blog comment section. This was indeed big news, worthy of coverage. “Good luck with that!” Ain’t Help 1.3.12: I was running laps at the Bloomsburg University track when I somehow tripped over my I-pod cord and—in a heroic effort to spare my recently re-habilitated right knee—crashed full force onto my right ankle, ripping every ligament from the bone, wrenching and tearing the muscles half way up my leg, and pulling my ankle bones away from my leg bone.
