Women make up the majority of the electorate, and 2.6 million or almost 3% the popular vote went to Trump’s opponent, but the women of America could not prevent their men-folk from choosing a blowhard to lead the country for the next four years, or until nuclear holocaust, financial collapse, a trade embargo, mental instability, indictment for political racketeering, or just plain ineptitude – whichever comes first.
Historically, women voters seem to have an uncanny and seemingly innate ability to spot obvious turds running for high office. Worldwide, women have been on the right side of history in not supporting authoritarian governments, con-men, demagogues and turds, famously not voting for Hitler, certainly the biggest turd of all time:
“Until 1930 women remained unlikely to vote for the Nazi Party. Moreover, in the presidential election of 1932, a clear majority of women preferred Hindenburg to Hitler.”
Had women made up the majority of the German electorate in 1932, Hitler would not have gotten elected in the first place. The Great Depression would have been winding down by the next German election and there might have been no war in Europe.
In Italy, women could not vote for Mussolini or his opponent – because he eliminated women’s suffrage in 1928. So we can’t blame le signore for Il Duce. The women of Italy didn’t get a chance to vote basta after Mussolini came to power. He took Italy down the swirly without their electoral consent.
The women of America repeated their unbroken string of not voting for world class jerks – the majority of them did not vote for a foul-mouthed, racist, xenophobic chicken hawk.
They left that dubious distinction to the men folk. . . .
