Man Up to a Frack Takings Farce

After two strikes, Shale Shyster Scott Kurkoski is going for a complete fracking strike out- as soon as he can milk some more legal fees out of some clueless dairy farmers or the Koch Brothers. My advice to landowners and Koch Brother front groups: get out your check books and get those lawsuits filed. Why wait ? Avoid the rush. Here’s what you have going for you: 1. None of the prospective plaintiffs have ever bothered to actually file a HVHF drilling permit application. Don’t let that stop you, it’ s your right to file that’s at issue. Right ? 2. The main thing that is stopping you from fracking yourself silly is the temporary moratorium on one specific type of well, which you think is illegal - you even […]

Williams : Fracking Bozos of the Marcellus

Williams : Fracking Bozos of the Marcellus

Every oil and gas play has its pioneers - generally the wildcatters that discover the field - and its bozos, the me-too johnny-come-latelys that define where the field ends. The Marcellus has a large cast of bozos in New York - Norse Energy, Gastem, various fracking riffraff. Pennsylvania has its own share of bozos - Hess, Newfield, and Williams Exploration - who is single handedly defining that the NE Pa. Marcellus has plateaued if not peaked. These are the fracking gasholes that want to buy up ROW in New York state to build the Constitution Pipeline to supply a field that they can’t find any fracking gas in. If these gasholes show up at your place looking to buy right of way and threatening you with condemnation, tell them Come and fracking try […]

And then the frackers explode . . .

And then the frackers explode . . .

Forgot to mention that as part of the “fracking health” study. Shale Gas Frack Fires are too hot for local firefighters to do anything about it. As firefighters discovered at a recent shale gas well explosion in Pennsylvania that killed one worker and injured another while they were hooking it up to a gathering system. If the shale gas well is near a school, house, daycare center or tanker train full of Canadian Tar Balls, best run. Fast. Welcome to Fracking Hell pilgrim. The proposed setback of a well pad from a house in New York is 500 feet. Look at the photo and tell me what part of 500′ is close enough for your house. In Dallas, it’s 1,500 feet. The proposed set back of everything else - a compressor, tank battery, de-gasser or a […]

Fracking Reparations Publicity Stunt

Fracking Reparations Publicity Stunt

The Disjointed Landowners are scraping together funds to pay some Shale Shyster to file a Fracking Reparations Publicity Stunt against the State of New York. One that is bankrolled by the Koch Brothers. A publicity stunt that, in the case of most landowners, is over something that is just not there : profitable shale gas under their land. On behalf of the few landowners that actually have any shale gas potential. And the gas industry. And the Shale Shysters. The plain fact is that unless Chesapeake or Exxon have leased the land and filed for a HVHF well permit application on it, there’s probably no shale gas worth fooling with there. Threatening to sue the agency that issues drilling permits might be a bit counterproductive if you have a drilling permit application in the queue. They […]

Gas Industry Demands DEC Finish Regs. That Were Kept Unfinished At Industry’s Behest

Gas Industry Demands DEC Finish Regs. That Were Kept Unfinished At Industry's Behest

For forty (40) fracking years. The Koch Brothers’s Fracking Front Group, the (Rocky) “Mountain States Legal Foundation” is not just bankrolling the Fracking Reparations Publicity Stunt against the State of New York, they are writing the threatening demand letters - from Lakewood, Colorado. Catch is they are about 40 years late to be complaining about the DEC’s failure to update it regulations. Since that’s how long the industry has been lobbying New York to keep those regulations from being updated and promulgated. If this strikes you as more than a bit ironic, you’d be right. The Koch Brothers are now demanding the DEC finish the SGEIS, when the gas industry has successfully worked with the Division of Mineral Resources to keep the updates unfinished since 1972. As Brian Brock has explained, with […]

EDF’s Gaseous Con Job

EDF's Gaseous Con Job

Not surprisingly, the Environmental Defense Fraud’s work is simply a replay of the same stunt pulled by frackademics at Penn Stat and MIT. Wherein they determine that new wells cherry picked by the industry do not leak. When new. This is not news, much less worthy of peer-reviewed study, just an exercise greenwashing. Since it neatly dodges the real issue - methane leakage from aging wells and aging infrastructure - right to the burner tip. Read the study - here - but long story short, they sniffed some fittings and valves on new wells that the industry allowed them to test and determined they weren’t leaking. What a surprise. Remarkably, they only tested the ambient air downwind of twenty (20) producing well sites hand-picked by the industry. No ages given on the wells, but […]

Cuomo’s End Run on LNG

Cuomo's End Run on LNG

After taking a public caning on their still-born “fracking regulations” the Cuomo Administration has learned its lesson: Go undercover. Or in the case of LNG export terminals - trivialize the review process by handing it off to the most obscure group inside the DEC - the “Remediation” team - ie. the clean-up squad. Which, in the event of an LNG terminal disaster, would be the guys in the yellow HAZMAT suits picking up char-broiled body parts. By playing the Obscurity Card, Cuomo is avoiding the larger debate: Why export American gas overseas in the first place ? And why from New York ? And if New York, where ? Oyster Bay ? Is New York to be a dumping ground of frackwaste and pipelines so that some petro-oligarchs can make a […]

Frackers Dictate “Rules” to DEC

Frackers Dictate "Rules" to DEC

Tearing up big chunks of America to export gas overseas strikes me as pretty 3rd World. A bit petro-oligarchic. If there is any doubt about who is pushing this (hint: rhymes with crackers) or why (hint: rhymes with funny), just read what they have drafted as “regulations” for LNG facilities in New York. New York’s proposed LNG permitting rules were written by the frackers. That’s clear from just skimming them. There are virtually no requirements on siting - no setbacks from residences or other businesses, no venting limitations, and comically dinky permit fees. The frackers dictated some fluff to their accomplices inside the DEC. Imagine that. New York is shaping up to be kind of a backwater dump zone for fracking. Where Fracksylvania gets rid of its frack waste - […]

Stepford Shale Ladies Tea Party

Stepford Shale Ladies Tea Party

“The Empire Energy Forum” - is the New York State version of a Washington DEC fracking front group that is cloned locally to put a happy face on fracking. Dory got the goods on them months ago: http://www.nofrackingway.us/2013/03/27/natural-gas-energy-forum-clones/ The local clones, aka The Stepford Shale Ladies are throwing a tea party in Syracuse, hosted by Karen Moreau. With “special guest guy” Greg Sovas, a former DEC employee, now full time fracking shill, who, while at the DEC, conveniently lost all the comments on the previous revamp of the GEIS. And, upon retirement, gave an affidavit in the Dryden and Middlefield Home Rule cases where he recalled a telephone conversation with a dead man. That Greg Sovas. He’s the token guy shill . . . http://www.nofrackingway.us/2012/10/11/how-much-are-frackers-paid-to-lie/ Hosted by Karen “Mushrooms” Moreau, the new Bag Lady […]

Dryden Moot Court

Dryden Moot Court

The Albany Law School is sponsoring what reads like a Moot Court on the Dryden case. Meaning some of the lawyers involved are going to argue the case - again - for an audience at The Albany Law School. Ostensibly for the purpose of arguing the case. Again. In front of a live audience. Not a court of law. Watch Deborah Goldberg rip Tom West a new one. For the ninth time. Sounds like fun. Some of the lawyers that are not involved in either case - notably the gas industry lobbyist Karen Moreau- are ostensibly going to discuss what would/should/might happen if Dryden is / is not upheld. (If not upheld TSWHTF). Elizabeth Radow will explain what would happen if Home Rule does not apply to gas wells: you can kiss your mortgage […]
