Delivered at Georgetown University to a crowd of students whose own futures hang in the balance, President Barack Obama’s highly anticipated speech on climate change certainly sounded like a clarion call to real and measurable action. Except that it wasn’t. For despite the fact that he does seem get the message about coal and greenhouse gas emissions, he has bought wholesale into the absurd, debunked industry manufactured hornswaggle transition argument for “clean burning natural gas”: “The bottom line is natural gas is creating jobs,” Obama said. “It’s lowering many families’ heat and power bills. How Earth Justice helped my pals in the Town of Dryden, New York. There are environmental posers - even Environmental Defense Frauds and there is the real thing: http://earthjustice.org/ There are show-boating Shale Shysters, and there are solid lawyers - like Team Slottje and Deborah Goldberg, who helped defend the Town. A local group invited me to speak in Dryden two years ago. I was supposed to debate a representative from Chesapeake Energy and one from the Independent Oil & Gas Association (IOGA), which is evidently named after a character in Othello. A representative from the USGS was supposed to present a neutral position. I drove 3 hours over from Cooperstown, the USGS rep. drove over from Ithaca.
