Pennsylvania landowners that thought they were going to be the next Beverly Fracking Hillbillies held a rally demanding that frackers stop fracking them - by deducting indecipherable “post production” costs - for “marketing” “transportation” “road repair” and “political contributions” from their royalty checks - which leaves them nothing. Like their neighbors - who just get fracked - no checks.
This is what frackers do to landowners, they even do it in Texas, where they get sued for it. And in Arkansas, where they joke about it. In New York, the Shale Shysters tell the landowners they will protect them, but some Shysters are in cahoots with the frackers. So they milk the landowners to pay for fracking publicity stunts instead.

Governor, Senator ask state AG to investigate Chesapeake Energy
Landowners Rally for Money from Frackers

Towanda, PA (WBNG Binghamton) Some Pennsylvania landowners claim they are not reaping the benefits promised from gas companies. On Friday, people stood in support of a bill that will guarantee gas lease royalties to Pennsylvania landowners.
“First of all it’s a lie, they sat at your kitchen table and they lied, they literally lied to you,” said David Moon, of New Albany, PA.
More than 100 people stood in front of the Bradford County Courthouse to show their support for House Bill 1684, which would force gas companies to share a minimum of 12.5 percent, or one eighth, of their royalties with landowners.
When hydraulic fracturing came into Pennsylvania more than four years ago, gas companies promised landowners 12.5 percent of their revenue from natural gas drilling on the landowner’s property.
In 2010, the state overturned that minimum in the Kilmer vs., Elexco court case, enabling frackers to net back “post production” costs against royalties.
Now, most gas companies, including Chesapeake Energy, are under fire from residents and lawmakers because they are deducting unspecified expenses, reducing landowners’ royalty checks, some down to nothing at all.
“This last year our deductions were $36,000 plus, and next year with the additional properties and the new wells coming on, it’ll be over $70,000,” Moon said.
“Just recently we’ve noticed one particular lease has had a big increase, they’re taking about, it’s gone up to about 60 percent of our royalties are taking out,” said East Smithfield, PA landowner Rex Kingsley.
There are 35,000 pieces of land where fracking occurs in Bradford County. Of that, about 14,000 are one acre or less.
Bradford County Commissioners said this is not just taking money from landowners, its taking money away from the county, state and country.
A letter from Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett was read at the rally. It said that he’s frustrated with senior leadership at Chesapeake Energy, and he’ll personally help advance this piece of legislation to help landowners get their royalty rights.
“I cannot stand a liar, and they sit and they’re lying and they’re evil.” Moon said.
Pennsylvania State Representative Tina Pickett was also at the rally. She said she hopes to get the bill on the house floor in March.
Action News reached out to Chesapeake Energy for a comment, but has yet to receive a response. Which will probably be along the lines of “Come see us in Oklahoma any time. Bring your forensic accountant. Or you can sue one of our dinky LLCs up there in Fracksylvania and see how far that gets you.”
The State of Fracksylvania is not going to “protect” these people. The State of Fracksyvlania was bought by the frackers years ago. Right before they sent in the land men to crook the landowners.

You would think they should know better ! You can’t expect the Moon, Mr. Moon from Industry. They’ve been lying and abusing people for decades ! And if you paid $36,000 in deductions, what were you left with ? he didn’t say ! More bad press for the Industry which includes the daily fires, leaks, explosions, derailments, etc…
Make a deal with the Devil and you’re going to get burned. Badly. The blame still goes to Industry, because they knew all along how this really works. They are not interested in helping you or anyone else become millionaires, only themselves. Doesn’t work much differently in Texas. Texas is a split estate state. The operator gets to decide how much he’s going to give you, the non-mineral right owner for your land, and he gets to take as much as he wants, as long as he’s ‘reasonable’ about it. The mineral right owners rarely have any drilling on their own property, and when they do, it’s the farthest point from their home, which means very close to yours. The other mineral right owners LEFT and live elsewhere-meaning, they took the money and ran, leaving behind those who couldn’t leave because their home is now worthless. I have ZERO sympathy for mineral right owners, especially those who got burned by Industry. You deserve what you get. Go bitch to someone else about how you aren’t getting paid fairly, and how Industry screwed you over. You think Industry screwed you over? How about those of us who started out getting screwed over?
No one’s telling WV anything we SHOULDN’T know after 150 years of it
….except of course for the most gullible remaining here…
What’s the most repeated lie in WV history?
“All your neighbors signed,
so if you don’t, we’ll just drill anyway
and you’ll get nothing.”
(OK, that’s really THREE separate LIES…)
