Tuesday, July 23rd will be the 5th anniversary of the fracking moratorium in New York.
5 years ago there were no towns that had banned fracking - anywhere.
Now there are 61 in New York alone - and several in other states.
5 years ago the proposed setback of a shale gas well from a major lake was 50 feet.
Now the setback is 2,000 feet on its way to the state line.
5 years that New York has not been ruined with spills, leaking wells and lost property values
5 years that New York towns have passed and defended fracking bans
5 years and over 300,000 comments on the proposed fracking regulations
Has your town council adopted a road and land use ordinance ? If not, get a new council.
Has your state senator signed on to any of the fracking bills stalled in Albany ?
If not, get a new state senator. You deserve better. New York deserves better.
Happy 5th New York ! Congratulations.
For every 5 year old child - that’s a lifetime with frack free food, water and air.

Right on Chip !
Hi Chip, what is the actual event that happened on 7/23/08? I am trying to research when the moratorium began and I keep coming up with 2010.
Governor Patterson threw the clutch in on HVHF permits when he authorized an update on the GEIS - the “dSGEIS” review - under which HVHF permits could be issued. So, in essence a de facto moratorium on HVHF permits issuance:
