In the “movie” Truthland, Terry Englander, Professor of GeoScience at Penn State University, explains to Sherry Depue that frac fluid is basically dish soap.
Early this morning, (Sat. August 11, 2012), Elk City, Oklahoma experienced a large explosion.

KFOR-TV reports:
ELK CITY-OK– Hodges Trucking Company on S. Merritt Road experienced a large explosion Saturday Morning.
Elk City fire officials said Hodges frac tanks caught on fire.
KOCO in Oklahoma City reports that officials at the Elk City fire department say equipment caught fire at the facility, and that fire has spread to diesel storage tanks.
The fire department has evacuated a one-mile radius around the area. Officials said the flames are spreading to the north of the business, which is located near Merritt Road and 20th Street.
Hodges Trucking Company, L.L.C., an affiliate of Chesapeake Energy Corporation.
Dishsoap Explodes? Who knew? Please check your dishsoap labels, it’s bad enough we have incidents of flaming faucets, we do not need exploding dishsoap too. Ummmm…might want to check labels on scouring pads too… can’t be too safe.

That’s it, I’m done…..just threw all my dishsoap out. If it’s going to misbehave like that, I have no use for it. But I hated to waste it, so I’m sending it all to Terry Englender at Penn State. If wants, he can share it with the frackers, who seem to be his best buddies.
Terry Engelder’s tortured logic is enough to make my head explode and catch fire.
Dish soap ? This looks like Dish, Texas under an infrared camera.
Let them drink fracking flowback - that would be mighty truthful
Same kind of thing happened in Texas at the Magnablend fracking chemical site http://www.texassharon.com/2011/10/03/the-fracking-chemical-plant-fire-in-waxahachie/
We ended up with a massive fish kill http://www.texassharon.com/2012/02/17/massive-fish-kill-from-magnablend-fracking-chemical-spill/
AND a wall of foam headed south in a creek. http://www.texassharon.com/2012/01/26/lets-talk-about-that-foaming-fracking-water-runoff-from-magnablend/
Hope you guys fare better than we did.
Every time I think Engelder, Corbett and the Gasholes can’t come up with something more stupid and ridiculous than the last assertion, I’m painfully reminded that they can. I’m just hoping the dish soap was scented with lemon so they can claim they actually helped Elk City by making it smell better.
My fiancee works at the Hodges yard where this happened. Luckily, we were on vacation seeing family in Kansas when this happened! While I am very liberal and pro-environment and anti-fracing. My significant other is more concerned about putting food on the table for our kids. I would like to see more sustainable energy usage and less fossil fuels.
I understand about the need to put food on the table. Hope he is taking special care regarding his direct exposure to those chemicals, and limiting exposure of them to you and kids via work clothing etc. He won’t be able to put food on the table if he falls ill or worse due to the constant exposure.
