Holy Fracking Rally organizer Susan Dorsey’s home town votes for a moratorium after her Rent-A-Rally bombs in Albany and she tries to make a point at the town hall meeting.
On the night of the Albany Frack Rally, October 15, the Village of Oxford passed the first moratorium on gas drilling in New York’s Chenango County by a vote of 4 to 1. Mayor Terry Stark and Trustees John O’Connor, Joseph Spence and Dale Leach voted in the majority. Oxford is the home town of New York’s primary spokesfracker Susan Dorsey, who spoke incoherently against the moratorium. With frackettes like Sue Dorsey, who needs Chesapeake ? The town board was evidently unpersuaded by the point Ms. Dorsey was trying to make:
The moratorium legislation was prepared by David and Helen Slottje of the Community Environmental Defense Council in Ithaca New York. Concerned Residents of Oxford began their campaign against gas drilling at the July 2, 2012 meeting of the Oxford Village Board. Local ordinances apply to gas drilling in New York – like everywhere else in America. If your town board has not adopted a road and land use ordinance, get a new town board.
Earlier in the day, the Gas Devil had made a surprise appearance at Susan Dorsey’s underwhelming Holy Fracking Rent-A-Rally in Albany. Stuart Anderson set up Gas Devil on the parade route. So they frackers marched right past the Gas Devil – looking somewhat dumbfounded, posed for photos, made rude gestures with their fingers like spokesfracker Susan Dorsey is want to do a town hall meeting. People were offered free donuts, free lunches, and free bus rides, which, in Susan Dorsey’s case, may have kept her from driving drunk again.
This debacle was billed as the “biggest rally ever” and the press release predicted thousands. No such fracking luck. Almost 250 gassers, many of whom were fracking employees, paid fracking shills and other man-camp followers bussed in for the event, led by Susan Dorsey. They paraded in matching red T Shirts chanting “pump New York” and “frack baby frack” carrying the signs they were given by some fracking PR firm like Energy in Depth and munching on their free donuts, courtesy of some fracking shills like Chesapeake or The Law office of Tom West. Fracking Evangelist Brian Conover was conspicuous in his absence. And mercifully, Frackman kept his pie hole closed and his trousers up during most of the festivities. With Rent-a-Rallies like this, who needs fracking lobbyists to give fracking a bad name ? They marched on behalf of out-of-state rig crews. And on behalf of the landmen. Most importantly, they marched for a fracking economic fairy tale in most of Upstate New York. Which is what fracking collaborators do.
Who would benefit from a fracking free-for-all in New York state ? A fracking minority of residents, plus out-of-state crews, Wall Street types, fracking lobbyists, shale shills, some hookers, bar owners, road repair contractors, window repair shops, mobile home park owners and meth labs. Folks like that, who claim to have the Governor on a leash.
There are two kinds of frackers: the Deluded and the Deluders. Both were at the Rent-A-Rally.
Among the thousands absent from Rent A Rally was Dennis “Rent-a-Plaintiff” Holbrook, and even though there were lots of free donuts to gorge on, no Mike “Road Kill” Knapp. Evidently the recently vivisected Tom West was still in ICU, or out plaintff shopping for the Dryden case. Even Shillstone shied away, as did Scott “Easy on the Eyeliner There Pardner ?” Cline. No show “Mushrooms” Moreau. No Johnny Hole Co. to threaten the DEC anew. And no sneak preview of FrackedNation from Phlegm McClear. Bummer.
Based on her brilliant success, Susan Dorsey and Frackman should open a consultancy: Rent-A-Rant, where they can go from town hall to town hall, ranting like landmen about how badly they want to be fracked by Texans and other frackers. Should be a real gas. Can trot out Cuomo on a leash.
